What is Teaching Practice (TP) Components

The Teaching Practice will consist of the best practical experience; from assisting the real teacher to observing classes.

Time log form – This should be filled by you and signed by the organization confirming your completion of 20 hours in-class time. 6 hours will be consisted of you leading a class teaching English. The remaining hours will include class assistance or observation of a class (minimum of 2 students per class).

Where can you get teaching practice?

Your teaching practice should be classroom-based. This is why 1: 1 tutoring does not count TP under this format.

The documentation from the sponsoring organization needs to be provided for us is not difficult! Fundamentally, the organization will just need to allow you to lead a class for 6 hours of TP and sign to form your participation.

There is a huge demand for EFL teachers around the world and the certification is mandatory.

Institute offering TP options:

  • Universities and schools
  • Faith-based association, churches and 'international cafes'
  • Libraries
  • Local government - often arranges volunteer schemes teaching English in universities and colleges with or without precise ESL departments
  • Community centers (you can find these through on internet)
  • Language schools

After successfully completing the Teaching Practice session from a local school the trainee needs to collect a TP letter from the said school. (Refer to Sample TP letter)
